Hawkplay Online Slots: Where It All Began
Since 1996, when the first online casino launched, games have improved, including those in Hawkplay. But, before we can examine the origins of online slots, we must first examine the origins of the simple slot machine.

The poker machine
Around 1891, the first slot machines appeared. Sittman and Pitt created this game. It came with five drums and fifty playing cards. To play, insert a nickel and pull a lever, which stretched the springs within and caused the drums to spin when the lever was released.
Instead of receiving credits or money, winners would receive free drinks and cigars at the pub where the machine was housed. They only had to line up Poker hands on the reels. The ten of spades and the jack of hearts were removed from the standard deck to increase the size of the house edge.
Between 1887 and 1895, the first one-armed bandit, Charles Augustus Fey, created what is regarded to be the first slot machine. Fey reduced the five drums to three reels and the playing card icons to just five: hearts, diamonds, spades, horseshoes, and a liberty bell. This allowed for the payment to be made automatically.
Other companies were allowed to duplicate Fey’s invention because he did not seek a patent for it.
When slot machines were banned in 1902, the Liberty Bell was the only one that continued to be manufactured. This gave rise to the “Fruit Machine” era, in which most machines paid out winnings in the form of candies that tasted like the fruit depicted on the reels.
Electric slots
The first slot machine with all-electric components debuted in 1964. It was created by the Bally firm and was titled Money Honey. The reels were no longer rotated by a spring, but the handle remained so that players may remain at ease.
This was also the first slot machine with an infinite hopper, which allowed for an automatic payout of up to 500 coins.
As the game gained popularity, the lever was removed and replaced with a button.
Slot machines video
Fortune Coin, a Las Vegas firm, created the first video slot between 1976 and 1978.
The game was created using a modified 19-inch Sony TV and premiered at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel.
The Nevada State Gaming Commission certified the machine shortly after it had been modified to make it more difficult to cheat on. This helped it become well-known on the Las Vegas Strip.
Slots Online
Prior to 1996, little changed, with the exception of the themes and varieties of land-based slot machines. Slot games were one of the first things that could be played when the first online casino launched in the mid-1990s.
Different features, symbols, bonuses, and regulations have elevated slot games to a whole new level throughout time. This is due to an increase in the magnitude of the potential payments. You may now play games that look like the original Fruit Machines, as well as a variety of other games. So, where would you like to go next?
